There are many simple things that you can do to improve your tennis game. Most of these things are easy to learn and they can have a huge impact on how well you perform on the court.   1. Try Not to Grip the Racket so Tightly When You Play

This may sound silly but many players grip their rackets so tightly that it looks like they are holding a cat by the scruff of its neck. This can put a lot of pressure on your forearm area and force you to work harder to strike the ball cleanly.

A good way to solve this problem is to ease up on your grip on the racket. Most people can remember to do this by remembering how gently you squeeze someones hand while politely shaking hands with someone. This gentle amount of pressure is all you need to control your racquet during play.

  1. Try to Find a Pair of Tennis Shoes that Fit Well

Many tennis players complain about sore feet and ankles after a tough day out on the court. These problems usually result from wearing a pair of tennis shoes that neither fit well nor support the arches or ankles.

As a result, it s a good idea to look for a pair of tennis shoes that fit round your ankles, arches and heels well. This can help you line up your serves and return shots because it ensures that you are looking towards the other players part of the court whilst returning a shot.

A good way to remember to do this is to remember to Keep your chin up! while playing. If you keep your chin up during play, it can help you focus your eyes and line of sight above the net while serving or returning shots. Try it out and see!

  1. Try to Improve Your Stamina Whenever Possible

Building up your stamina is important for most tennis players because it allows them to play at their absolute best for longer periods of time. That s why you see many of todays top tennis players use a running regime as part of the exercise programmes for the upcoming season.

You should try to do this too. Many novice tennis players can benefit from running two or three km every two or three days to build up their leg strength and their lungs. This enables players to play longer, cover more ground and hit their shots with more power than players who lounge about during the week.

  1. Try to Remember to Put your front foot forward! When You Play

Many tennis players tend to play the game with their feet straddled side by side as if they were walking about. This makes it difficult to react to a shot coming towards your because it forces you to take an extra step before you can react to the shot.

One way to solve this problem is to keep your feet spread apart, your knees bent and your front foot forward. (This is the foot opposite the hand that you serve with.) Doing this allows you to react faster to a shot coming towards you because it makes it easier to pivot and run towards the shot. This is true because your body weight is spread out more evenly across your body. This makes it easier to run to a shot without falling down.
